How to get a your Social Security letter form the Federal Benefits office of the US Embassy in Costa Rica. If you are applying to Pensionado residency in Costa Rica and you need to submit with your application proof of social security income you now request the letter online. The US Embassy no longer requires that you make an appointment at the US Embassy to obtain the proof of income letter .
According to the US Embassy in Costa Rica website the applicant needs to follow these steps to get their proof of income letter”
- Log in to their online inquiry form.
- Within five working days, a representative from the FBU will contact you to verify your identity and get your permission to email you the letter verifying your benefit amount.
- Print the letter and provide it to the Costa Rican immigration office. This letter does not require an Apostille (or notarization).
For Pensionado Residency the Costa Rican Department of Immigration requires that you demonstrate a pension of at least US$1,000 per month.
