I have a 15 year old son who just took up surfing. We live in the central valley of Costa Rica and the quickest hop over to surfing beach in Costa Rica is the 1.5 hour drive to Jaco Beach and Playa Hermosa. You know when they are motivated when they are willing to get up at 5:30 am for drive out to Jaco surf for a couple of hours and then head back to San Jose after lunch. By the looks of this it may become a frequent trip. Costa Rica is a haven for surfers. The country has many beaches that offer first class surfing for surfers that are really experienced and to those that are just learing like my son. Here are some of the most popular surfing beaches in Costa Rica.
